Michael Palin's cocaine confession

SHEFFIELD'S favourite showbiz star Michael Palin has confessed he is 'a failed cocaine user' - after experimenting with the drug in the late 1970s while working in the USA.
The Ranmoor-born personality has admitted having a 'couple of snorts' when he was a guest host of cult US entertainment show Saturday Night Live.
"It was a time when cocaine was fairly prevalent. It is nothing I have used before or since," he said.
"I wouldn't recommend it - certainly not for me anyway. I talk quite enough as it is. So I am a failed cocaine user."
Palin, now 66, appeared on the New York revue show in 1978 and 1979 and was befriended by hellraising comedian John Belushi, who later died from an overdose in 1982.
In an interview to promote his new volume of diaries Halfway To Hollywood, Palin also recalled attending a party at exclusive disco Studio 54 attended by Mick Jagger, Jerry Hall, Salvador Dali, Brooke Shields, Dan Ackroyd, Andy Warhol and Truman Capote.
"There was plenty of cocaine around," he added.
