Jesse Metcalfe, whose rise to stardom came after a turn on the comedy drama series Desperate Housewives, now stars in meatier roles on the big screen.

WHEN
you think of Jesse Metcalfe, you are immediately reminded of teen gardener John Rowland on Desperate Housewives. As the sexy Latino teenager having an affair with housewife Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria Parker), Metcalfe hogged a fair bit of the limelight despite being part of an ensemble cast which comprised top-notch actors like Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman
Desperate Housewives premiered five years ago but until today, people still associate Metcalfe with the hunky gardener role. Being stereotyped as Gabrielle’s toy boy has been frustrating but Metcalfe has accepted that as being part and parcel of showbiz
“People like to stereotype actors based on characters they have played. Sometimes it’s a lot easier to ‘compartmentalise’ people than to view them as evolving individuals. Within the industry – directors, producers or even other actors – people tend to remember actors based on the last role they played.
